This is a model of dulcimer that is somewhat wider than the traditional Thomas dulcimer. I believe it yields a better sound though. It is has a Mahogany body with a Padauk fingerboard. As you can see from the pictures, the Mahogany has a very pretty figure to it.
These are some better pics than were here before. I think the combination of the Padauk Fingerboard and the Mahogany body is quite striking in both sound and visual aesthetics..
A friend of mine has a golden retriever with somewhat the same pattern down his back.
These Hummingbirds are traced from a pattern that I sketched 8 years ago. I burn the edges to heighten the contrast and make the form more distinctive.
I thought the flowers would complement the Hummingbirds.
